Our Team

The PolyTwist Team at MakerFaire New York 2017. From left to right: Julian Awad, Amun Chawla, Laura Plourde.

The team first met at a Rubik’s Cube speedsolving competition, where we were all competitors. We soon bonded over our love for twisty puzzles, and shared a passion for mechanical engineering and design. We each had crazy ideas for puzzles, so we pooled our knowledge and resources together and managed to create our first ever puzzle: a 2×2 Monkey which we decided to name Suzanne. Ever since, we’ve been addicted to creating new and exciting puzzles born from unusual, weird, and borderline crazy ideas. So, we decided to turn this into a business and share our puzzles for the world to enjoy!

Today, Laura is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Julian is studying Engineering Physics with a Mechanical Option at Queen’s University, and Amun is studying Mechanical Engineering at the Carleton University.

Suzanne, the first ever PolyTwist puzzle. Her right side is white because we ran out of orange filament.
